Northern IL Wetland, LLC
Now with expanded Service area serving Developers and Governmental Agencies in DeKalb, Boone, Winnebago, Ogle, Lee, Henry, Whiteside, Stephenson, and part of Carroll and Rock IslandĀ Counties
Will your next development impact a wetland? If so, you may be legally required to compensate for that impact by creating, restoring or enhancing other wetlands, as detailed in the Clean Water Act and administered by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
It pays to know – and to know professionals who can help.
Northern IL Wetland, LLC, working with the nationally-acclaimed wetland restoration experts of Olson Ecological Services Inc., has been approved by the Rock Island District Two Army Corps of Engineers to develop and maintain a wetland mitigation bank. Serving developers or governmental agencies within the HUC 6 Watershed. Northern IL Wetland is your wetland mitigation resource.
What is a wetland mitigation bank?
A mitigation bank is a large tract of created or restored wetlands, which has been set aside to offset the future loss of other wetlands. The “banker” (who also builds and manages the wetlands) offers credits to developers who need to compensate, or mitigate, for their wetland impacts. How many credits a developer must purchase is determined by the Army Corps and other regulatory agencies, and depends upon the size, type and quality of the impacted wetland.
The alternative is designing, permitting, installing, and maintaining your own, on-site wetland mitigation – a costly, time-consuming, and largely unsuccessful endeavor when attempted by non-professionals.
Northern Illinois Wetland has credits immediately available for use. The credits are reasonably priced, the transaction is quick and simple (just write a single check), and the wetlands are of high quality and expertly maintained – providing a “win-win” situation for you AND the health of our environment.
Credits are now available for different wetland communities, including:
- Forested
- Emergent
- Wet prairie
- Riparian
“In this time of ever-changing wetland regulations, having to monitor and maintain minor on-site wetlands just doesn’t make sense. Buying wetland credits enables us to make the best use of our land at a pre-determined cost.”
